Scope and Contents
The papers of Dr. Eleanor Kellogg Heningham span approximately the years between the 1940s to 1980s. A majority of the materials held in these files relate to Dr. Heningham’s professional life and work while employed with the Department of English at the University of Idaho. Some personal correspondence and paraphernalia are intermixed with the myriad scholarly notes and official letters.

Biographical / Historical
Born circa 1910 in Brooklynn, New York, Dr. Heningham and her two brothers, Herbert Humphrey Kellogg Jr. Ph.D. and George Alexis Kellogg, were raise by their parents, Herbert H. Kellogg Sr. a Lawyer in the New York District Attorney’s Office, and Gladys L. Falding Kellogg. She married Richard E. Heningham on March 14, 1936 and resided in Middlesex, Connecticut prior to accepting a professorship within the Department of English.
During her employment with the university, Dr. Heningham published multiple works on early Anglo-Saxon literature. In 1957, her brother George joined her as a staff member of University of Idaho, serving as the Humanities Librarian until his death in 1970. Dr. Heningham passed away in 1991.

Arrangement
Processing the materials involved arranging the contents by general research notes and materials related to the production of specific publications. The majority of materials are organized by subject matter and chronologically arranged where possible. Some materials were discarded due to poor condition or redundancy.

Materials received from Richard Heningham, by way of Roger Wallins, in 1992 (MA 1992-16).
