Arrangement
Originally, this collection was seperated into two donations. One donation was 8 boxes of materials and the second 1.5 boxes. During processing some materials were removed. These include materials that were dupliates or damaged primarily. The remaining materials were seperated into 13 series based upon topic. These include: National Forest Lands; Plants, Animals, and Pests; Rivers; Class/Educational; Fire; Society of American Foresters and The Nature Conservancy; Associations and Conferences; Forest Service; Communications; Old Growth Committee; Miscellaneous materials; Books and Maps; and Additional Materials.
Series I: National Forest Lands was then split into four sub-series: Research Natural Areas; Natural Areas; National Natural Landmarks; Miscellaneous National Forest.
These series and sub-series were developed based upon topics of commonailty within the collection. Some of the collections overlap and best judgement was used to determine which area materials would fall under.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Materials were donated by Kent Wellner between June and August of 2001.
