Scope and Contents The papers of the Rural Women's History Project span the years 1975 to 1980, with the bulk of the material covering the years 1975-1976.The papers include scripts for presentations, a notebook with photographs and an evaluation of the performance in Sandpoint in 1976, and information on other oral history projects. Abstract

As a social and political activist, Betsy Thomas’career was heavily invested in advocacy for social minorities and political organization at the grassroots level. From 1985-1997, Thomas was director of the University of Idaho Women’s Center where her work was seen as crucial in developing many Women’s Center programs and traditions. Also, landmark to Thomas’ career was her involvement in the National Organization for Women, which she was affiliated with beginning in 1976.

Included in the records are photographs, newspaper articles, lawsuits, a rape survey, budget and grant proposals, and various projects concerning the Women’s Center.
