Abstract

Three (3) 78rpm recordings of the Lockheed-Vega dedication of a P38 aircraft to George Hight Cummings, who grew up in Moscow, Idaho, worked for Lockheed, and was killed in action in 1942 at Guadalcanal. George's father was Carlton Cummings, head of University of Idaho's music department and founder of the Vandaleers.

Content Description From the Collection:

Three (3) 78rpm records describing the dedication of a P38 airplane to George Hight Cummings, who was killed in action at Guadalcanal on October 25 or 27, 1942. His father was Carlton Cummings, head of the music department at University of Idaho. Carlton also started the Vandleers. Also three digital copies of photographs from the family were provided with the donation.
