Biographical / Historical
The Renaissance Fair has been a long-standing community event held the first weekend of May. In 2023, the Fair celebrated its 50th year in East City Park. There are rumors that the Fair has its roots in the Blue Mountain festival of the early 70s, but according to Jim Prall, one of the last remaining original organizers, the Fair came first with Blue Mountain as a featured event. When the Fair and the University of Idaho decided that Blue Mountain was not an event that either entity wanted to be associated with, the fair was better established as an event that was more family oriented. In 2006, Marsha Schoeffler produced a film called “Moscow Renaissance Fair, The Movie.” For more history on the Fair, see clips from the film featuring Jim Prall and Bill London on their website: http://www.moscowrenfair.org/index.html.
