Biographical / Historical
Lyle John Reed was born on August 17, 1926 to Benjamin Alfred and Mary Ellen (Derby) Reed in Walker, Iowa. In 1944, he graduated from Ashland High School located in Wisconsin. Reed served during World War Two as a supply clerk in the European Theater. Later in life he worked at Wauna Pulp Mill, retiring in 1991. He eventually moved to Svenson, Oregon in 2002. Reed was a long standing member of the National Oldtime Fiddlers' Association.
