Biographical / Historical

Francis Baker Laney on April 9, 1875 to John Baker and Jane (Alexander) Laney. He obtained a Ph.D. in geology from Yale University in 1908 and eventually began work for the USGS-Idaho Bureau of Mines project in the Seven Devils area of Idaho. Laney then became a professor at the University of Idaho, and was head of the Geology Department for eighteen years. Laney died on April 24, 1938.
