Kenneth H. Borchers collected various 78 RPM vinyl records. This collection contains some of those items and feature records produced by Columbia, Capital Records, and Decca.

Biographical / Historical

Kenneth Harold Borchers was born on May 14, 1927 in Sacramento, California. He served as a radar operator for the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He worked for General Dynamics, TRW, and FMC Corp, among other corporations. Later Borchers worked in Washington, D.C. at OMB/OFPP to develop the defense department procurement policy. He also earned a BA and MA in Philosophy from the University of Utah.

Borchers had a lifelong interest in traditional jazz music, and collection many records from around the 1940s. He died on March 18, 2017.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated by Kenneth H. Borchers to the University of Idaho School of Music in 2015. It was later transfered to Special Collections and Archives in 2016.
