Biographical / Historical
Mildred Dole Downing was born 19 December 1897 at Superior, Wisconsin. Her family moved to Lewiston in about 1905. Mildred married Ephriam Downing in 1928. They moved to Grangeville in 1939, then Orofino in 1958, where she passed away 4 July 1971.
Mildred Downing was a charter member of the Lewiston American Legion auxiliary, a member of the United Methodist Church at Orofino; a life member of the Clearwater Historical Society and a member of the Orofino Business and Professional Women's Association. She was also a director of the Clearwater Mental Health Association.
