Biographical / Historical
Chatcolab Northwest Leadership Laboratory was founded in 1949 by Don Clayton. The mission of this organization was to teach leadership skills in a recreation setting. Clayton was inspired to start one after attending the Black Hills Lab, an early support of his endeavor. After securing an old CCC camp, the first lab was held from May 8-11, 1949, and 87 people attended. The lab was held at that location until 1975. Chatcolab was officially incorporated... on May 15, 1969 and received non-profit status in 1980. Over 90 people took part in the lab's 25th anniversary in 1973. Chatcolab is still active today.
