Content Description
Arthur B Johnson collection is comprised of different materials he collected over the course of his career. Not only collected, but wrote in correspondence to government agencies, forestry departments, and local newspaper articles affiliated with western culture.
The collection begins with a variety of over 30 geographical maps of Northwest National Forests ranging from the 1960s to the 1990s. It then turns to three publications by Ralph Space titled The Clearwater History which recount the personal and collective history of the Clearwater region and people living in the area. Johnson’s personal opinions and responses to newspapers, articles, and government agencies (some of which were published). Then the collection ends with a variety of dated folders which contain Johnson’s notes of events happening during his career that he took interest in as well as articles which he authored and were later published.

Arrangement
The Arthur B Johnson Collection was donated by himself and sorted and rehoused by Raffaella Sini and Alejandro Macias in the spring of 2023 during the course of HIST 501//ENGL 504 The Public and the Archive. We decided to organize the materials in this group by type. The geographic maps in the first series are arranged by region and then chronologically. Series two was comprised of Arthur B Johnson’s personal records. Series three with Ralph Space publications we placed in chronological order as well as Johnson’s newspaper articles and corresponding notes. Series four was a few telephone directories we placed together. The final series was newspaper articles and corresponding notes placed in chronological order.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
