Biographical / Historical
Sara Annette Bowman was born in the early 1860s. Bowman graduated from the Illinois State Normal University and the School of Design in Davenport, Iowa. From 1890 to 1892 she was a drawing instructor for the Tacoma Public Schools. Bowman came to the University of Idaho and was hired as one of first two female teachers. She served as the Professor of Drawing and taught other art courses until 1901.
