Julia A. (Kneen) Moore is the mother-in-law of Margaret Bryan McCallie Moore (Class of 1898). This collection includes a personal correspondence to her son, Fred, and Mabel. It outlines her experience during the 1906 fire of the Administration building at the University of Idaho. Also included is a newspaper clipping from the Moscow Evening Journal, March 30, 1906, no. 130. The clipping is about the Administration building fire.

Biographical / Historical
Julia A. (Kneen) Moore was born on January 14, 1844 in Rochester, New York. Little in known about her childhood, or how she ended up in the state of Idaho. What is known, is that she married Charles Moore (1841-1888) in 1864. Together they had about four children: Harry Kneen, Flora Patience, Fred Cushing, and Edna Lucile. Her son, Fred Cushing Moore, married Margaret Bryan McCallie. Margaret was a member of the University of Idaho 1898 graduating class.
Her and her family had a residence in Moscow. In 1906, they witnessed the destruction of the Administration building fire on the U of I campus. Julia A. (Kneen) Moore died on January 30, 1930 in Walla Walla, Washington.
