Ruth (Rhodes) Winquist was a University of Idaho alum. This collection contains a scrapbook of U of I related newspaper clippings, mainly of sporting events. The wooden cover of the scrapbook was handcrafted by made by Ruth's father.

Biographical / Historical
Ruth Jenet (Rhodes) Winquist was born on August 12, 1915 in Detroit Lakes, Michigan. Her and her family eventually made their way to California where Ruth graduated from Bell High School in 1933. She attended the Bible Institue of Los Angeles for a couple years before she moved with her family to Moscow, Idaho.
Here she attended the University of Idaho to pursue a degree in Education with an emphasis on math and physical education. While at U of I, Ruth was very active on campus. She was a member (and president) of the Women's Athletic Association (WAA), the Women's "I" Club, the Pem club, and Daleth Teth Gimel. Ruth also played on the women's basketball team, WAA's volleyball team, and in the WAA baseball tournaments. She graduated in 1939.
Ruth taught at Meridian High School before relocating to Bremerton, Washington during World War II. Here she was employed by Puget Sound Power and Light, and this is also were she met her husband, Robert Winquist. In Washington, she taught at King's High and finally retired in 1980.
Ruth Jenet (Rhodes) Winquist died on January 5, 2010.
