Gem of the Mountains photograph collection
Content Description
Primarily negatives, some with corresponding prints, of photographs taken for the Gem of the Mountains yearbook. Includes student groups, social activites, athletics events, students, faculty and staff, and university events.
This collection is made up of at least three separate donations. Special Collections staff organized the photos by year then approximately alphabetical by subject. Items for each date/topic were housed in archival envelopes, then numbered by Special Collections staff. Despite also being organized by type, many numbered envelopes contain both prints and negatives.
Donors include Philip Schnell, who worked as photographer, contributor and editor on the 1947-1950 Gem of the Mountains yearbooks, Richard Law who purchased the images for $1 at Harry Johansen's garage sale, and through an unknown donation that was found in the Special Collections stacks.
