Abstract

Art Troutner was an architect, an inventor and the co-founder of Trus Joist Corporation. The collection consists mostly of architectural drawings of residential buildings in Boise and Ketchum, Idaho.

Biographical / Historical

Arthur Lowe Troutner (1921-2001) was an architect, an inventor and the co-founder of Trus Joist Corporation in 1960 with Harold E. Thomas. Troutner was a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho in 1949 and an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University in 1976. The University of Idaho's Kibbie Dome, which won the American Society of Civil Engineer's Outstanding Structural Achievement Award for 1976, was built by Trus Joist using Art Troutner's innovations in wood products technology.
