Abstract
Articles of incorporation, correspondence, income tax returns, cash books, policy registers and other financial material.
Arrangement
The records in this group were separated into two series, one of financial records and ledgers, the other non-financial material. The first series is non-financial material and contains the articles of incorporation, notices of two Department of Insurance hearings, and correspondence. From 1924 to 1960 there is very little correspondence and the majority of the later correspondence, 1960 to 1979, is with the General Reinsurance Corporation in Los Angeles.
Most of the items in this manuscript group are financial and include bank records of interest earned on deposits, FHA loan statements, tax returns, annual reports, policy registers and cash books. The company maintained no formal ledger but the cash books represent detailed income and disbursement ledgers.
Acquisition Information
The Records of the Nez Perce Farmers County Mutual Fire Insurance Co. were donated to the University of Idaho Library by Bill Blewett, a sales representative for the company, in December 1980.
Processing Note
One bound volume of duplicate policies written from 1935 to 1942 was removed from the collection as were four years of Director's Records and five volumes of assessment records since summaries of the last two items are contained in the cash books. A total of 1 c.f. of material was removed.
