Biographical / Historical

Edward Maslin Hulme was born in 1871. In 1897 he graudated from Stanford University with his bachelors degree. Between 1900 and 1901, Hulme completed his graduate studies at Harvard Univeristy, with a year spent on a traveling scholarhsip in Sorboone, Paris. When he came to work at the University of Idaho, he was a professor of history, becoming the head of the department. Hulme eventually became dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and coached debate teams. He was also an advocate in 1921 for "Vandals" to be the offical nickname for University of Idaho teams. He died in 1951.

History professor and debate coach Edward Hulme gave his scrapbooks to the University of Idaho Library in 1921 when he left the university.
