Content Description
The Juntura Committee Minutes span the years 1971 to 2005, with most of the material covering the years 1971 to 1974.
The papers include meeting notes containing meeting discussions, participant names, and dates. Included is also the Report on The Status of Minority/Special Programs Students submitted by the Office of Intercultural Programs. Folders additionally contains papers relating to the Ethnic Student Curriculum Career Advisory Program, the Black Student Union, the Native American Student Association. There are also scanned copies of newspaper clipping from the Idahonian Daily News. Included are also correspondences between the committee and the university’s President, Ernest W. Hartung.

Biographical / Historical
The Juntura Committee was first proposed by the Committee on Committees in September 1971 and approved by the Faculty Council and University Faculty in October 1971. The purpose was to review periodically special goals and objectives and to recommend policies relative to students whose educational backgrounds had been hampered by cultural or economic environments. The term "Juntura" translated from Spanish means "to joint, to unite, to place together."
