Scope and Contents
The bulk of William A. Billingsley’s papers spans approximately the years 1961 to 1993. Most of the materials are undated sketches of compositions. There are a few assorted arrangements from the 1940s.

Biographical Note
William A. Billingsley was born June 28, 1922 in Glasgow, Montana, the son of Clarence James Billingsley and Macil Holley Billingsley. He earned a Bachelor in Music in 1952 and a Master in Music in 1953 from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. He joined the University of Idaho faculty in 1954 teaching trumpet, theory, and composition at the School of Music. He also served as Director of the School of Music from July 1, 1977 to June 30, 1978. He was Professor Emeritus of Music since 1984, year of his retirement. Professor Billingsley died on March 18, 2007.

William A. Billingsley’s papers were donated to the University of Idaho Library by his wife, Doris Billingsley, in July 2009 (MA 2009-29).
