Biographical / Historical
The photographs in this collection were donated by Lisa Long, whose grandparents, Merle Leroy Drake and Ernestine Rose, attended the University of Idaho in 1919-1923, and whose mother, Rose Nadine Drake, attended the university 1950-1952. Merle Leroy Drake became the Prosecuting Attorney of Custer County, Idaho, and president of the Idaho Wool Growers Association, in addition to running a sheep farm south of Challis, Idaho.
The University of Idaho building noted in the collection as the Sigma Chi house eventually became the Delta Tau Delta house, later replaced with a new building. Also pictured are members of Kappa Alpha Theta; the Beta Theta chapter began at the University of Idaho in 1920.
