Biographical / Historical

Idaho Gem was the first mule to be cloned and born healthy in 2003 by the University of Idaho. It won its first race in 2006. The race was the world's first appearnce by a cloned animal in a professional athletic competition. Gordon Woods was the cloning project lead and a U of I CALS professor of animal and veterinary science.
