Content Description
The Engineering and Mines Photographs collection includes materials from 1926-2002. Materials include photographs and negatives of College of Mines and Earth Resources (COMER) events, faculty, students, the construction of a COMER building, and mining sites. Collection also includes the DVD “This University of Idaho”, which focuses on University of Idaho alumni as they discuss their experiences while attending the university; assorted VHS tapes; film reels on mining topics; and presentation slides.

Biographical / Historical
The College of Mines and Earth Resources (COMER) was a former college at the University of Idaho. In July of 2002, the College of Letters and Science was separated into two colleges: The College of Science and the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS). At this time, COMER was dissolved, with some of its programs placed under the new College of Science, and the rest moved to the College of Engineering.

Abstract
Collection includes photographs and negatives of College of Mines and Earth Resources (COMER) events, faculty, students, building construction, and mining sites. Also includes VHS tapes, film reels, presentation slides, and a DVD.
Arrangement
Materials are arranged into four series. Series 1: Photographs includes College of Mines and Earth Resources (COMER) photographs arranged by subject in alphabetical order and further arranged by date. Series 2: VHS & DVDs includes a VHS on McClure Hall Construction History and a DVD on the experiences of University of Idaho Alumni. Series 3: Film Slides & Photographs includes assorted slide presentations and is split into Sub-series I: Slide Presentations and Sub-series II: Photo albums and scrapbooks. Series 4: Mixed media includes VHS tapes (Sub-series I: VHS Tapes) and film reels (Sub-series II: Film Reels) on mining topics.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Materials received in 2016 (UA 2016-15). Additional materials were transferred by the College of Electrical Engineering in Spring of 2025 due to building renovations.
Bibliography
General
Duplicates of photographs in the collection were discarded.
Processing Information
Duplicate photographs were removed during processing as were film materials which are previously housed at other organizations such as the Library of Congress.
