Biographical / Historical
Margaret McCallie Moore was one of the first students to enter the University of Idaho and graduated with the second class of students in 1898. Her father, Dr. John Hugh McCallie was Moscow's first dentist. Moore would work as a English tutor for one year before being hired as the University head librarian starting in 1900. She served as chair of the U of I Alumni Association and left in 1907 for graduate school in Chicago at the Columbia School of Expression. She moved to Spokane where she continued work with the alumni assocation and created the Idaho alumni chapter. Moore organized and donated early documents and photographs to the University of Idaho Special Collections and Archives and her husband's mining library to the School of Mines. Moore passed away in 1972.
