The Association for the Humanities was the progenitor of the Idaho Humanities Council and shared the same goals. Partnered with the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) they funded, organized, and carried out projects and programs. They formed a core curriculum for lower-level humanities courses to ensure consistent teaching throughout Idaho colleges and universities. Throughout 1984-1986 they invited several professors and other speakers to give public lectures at the University of Idaho.
