Scope and Contents
Historical maps focusing primarily on the Pacific Northwest and Idaho. Some maps are for other parts of the world and the United States. The maps appear to have been collected up until 1984. There are a variety of maps but they are primarily road and physical maps.

Biographical / Historical
The maps were collected over numerous years. They were cataloged primarily by Ralph Nielsen in 1984. Nielsen was a Special Projects Librarian for the University of Idaho and for Special Collections. The maps and their print catalog sat untouched for numerous years in Special Collections. In 2024, the drawers in which the maps sat were opened and the index was located. At that time, this record was created to make them accessible to patrons.

Arrangement
Maps were arranged in classification order according to the Library of Congress map classificaion schedule in 1984.
Existence and Location of Originals
Some of these maps are copies of various types. It is unknown where the originals are.
General
A print catalog of these maps with additional information can be found in the top map drawer. Additionally, the last series is a fairly complete index of the maps.
