Biographical / Historical

Gifford Pierce was an architecture professor at the University of Idaho for 13 years until his untimely death in 2000. Born in 1937, Pierce attained his bachelor's and master's degree in architecture from Yale. After grad school he served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. He also taught at many schools throughout the U.S. including Montana State and Carnegie Mellon. The University of Idaho’s collection includes his course syllabi and course work for the many classes he taught. He was laid to rest in his home state of Massachusetts in Shrewsbury.
