John H. Eaton was probably an engineer surveyor because his diaries were relating to surveying the planned western extension of the Alaska Highway near Minto, Alaska, then basic training at Camp Beale, California. John Eaton married Mary DeWells Eaton. She was a public assistance caseworker from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Eaton was born around 1907. He died around 1994.
