Scope and Contents

The Clara Ransom Davis papers span the years 1883-1957 and consist of two scrapbooks prepared for the Latah County Pioneer Association. The scrapbooks include photographs and newspaper clippings centered around community events and citizens of Latah County. Many of the newspaper clippings are dated, and many photographs include names of the individuals pictured. The newspaper clippings preserved in the scrapbooks include information on local weddings, meetings of community groups, family reunions, profiles of community members, and community events. Photographs preserved in the collection include portraits of community members, historic photographs of various locations in Latah County, and group photographs of various classes, athletics teams, and community groups.

In both scrapbooks, photographs and newspaper clippings are adhered over the contents of the original book. Before being repurposed as a scrapbook, Object 1 was a Beardslee Chandelier Manufacturing Company catalog for electric light fixtures. Object 2 was a Hart Schaffner and Marx 1938 spring and summer menswear clothing catalog.
