Biographical / Historical

Sigma Xi was founded in 1886 at Cornell University. Sigma Xi was founded to promote and reward excellence in scientific research. Today Sigma Xi has nearly 60,000 members and over 500 chapters internationally. The University of Idaho Chapter of Sigma Xi was chartered in 1922 and is still functioning today.

Materials were donated by Joan Parkison of Sigma Xi Universtiy of Idaho on 27 March 1987.
