This collection contains photographs, research data, studies, consulting materials, and materials on the history of the College of Engineering at the University of Idaho created and compiled by Calvin C. Warnkick. Warnick was very invovled in research projects regarding Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, wind tunnels, and canal lining.

Biographical / Historical
Calvin C. Warnick was born 15 November 1920 in Hinckley, Utah to Parley P. and Grace Cropper Warnick. He attened school in Hinkley and graduated from Utah State University at Logan before completing graduate work at the University of Wisconsin and Delft Technical University in The Netherlands. During World War II he worked for Boeing Aircraft Compant as a design engineer. He would later work for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation at Salt Lake City, Utah. He joined the University of Idaho in 1947. His work at the University of Idaho focused on water resources planning and hydropower development. He married Kathleen Orr Porter on the 26 November 1952 in Moscow. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers. Warnick was an advisor to the Idaho state government on water resources and was inducted into the Idaho Water Users Hall of Fame in 1988. He and Kathleen were awarded the Jim Lyle University of Idaho alumni award in 1995. Warnick died 20 June 1996 in Moscow. He was survived by his wife, stepson Jack R. Porter, and three sons David, Thomas, Paul, and Norman.

Arrangement
Efforts were made to keep origianl order during processing. Additionally, as materials came from multiple accessions, materials were added to the ends of series created during process. Some material was relocated within the series to fit the flow of topics better and some original folders were split into two for storage purposes.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Materials were donated by Calvin C. Warnick and Kathleen Porter Warnick between 1986 and 1997. Additional materials were donated by Amy Petit from the College of Engineering in 2021.
