Biographical / Historical
Little is known about Hazel Mary Roe's childhood other than she attended St. Margaret's Hall school in Boise, Idaho.
Roe attended the Unviersity of Idaho from at least 1923-1927, to earn at bachelor's degree. According to some Argonaut articles and Gem of the Mountain Yearbooks, she lived in Forney Hall and participated in sports such as volleyball, basketball, tennis, hiking, and rifle shooting. She was the major driving force behind increased interest in a Women's Rifle team. Roe even placed high in the rankings of in local and national shoots. Her participation in campus athletics earned her an "I" sweater in 1926. Roe was also a menmber of the Women's Atheltic Association at U of I, the Rifle Manager, and Secretary-Treasurer of the Episcopal club.
