Biographical / Historical
This is a collection of award winning and nominated titles submitted to the American Library Association's Stonewall Book Awards, donated by Lewis Brian Day, from the creation of the award in 1971 up through 2013.
The Stonewall Book Awards is sponsored by the American Library Association's Rainbow Round Table (formerly the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table). A Place for Us by Isabel Miller received the first award in 1971. The award is announced in January/February and presented to the winning authors or editors at the American Library Association Annual Conference in June. The award winners each receive a commemorative plaque and $1,000. Researchers can see the full list of award winners here.
