Biographical / Historical

Arthur S. Howe was born on 4 February 1892 in Northumberland, New Hampshire. In 1917, he was living and working as a teacher in Bayonmon, Puerto Rico. He enlisted in World War I in 1918. Between his discharge on the 4 January 1919 and 1930, he traveled back and forth between the United States and Puerto Rico. In 1930 he was living in Moscow and working as a professor at the University of Idaho. Howe was Assistant Professor of Modern Languages from 1922 to 1929 and Associate Professor of Modern Languages from 1929-1962. He passed away on 6 August 1962 in Los Angeles, California.
