Biographical / Historical

Dr. John H. McCallie was born on June 10 1852 in Madisonville, Tennessee. He was Moscow's first dentist and an early settler of the area. He passed away in Moscow on August 14, 1935. McCallie's daughter, Margaret McCallie Moore, was one of the first students to enroll in the University of Idaho in 1892 and graduated with the second class and was hired in 1900 as the Univertiy's head librarian.
