Biographical / Historical
Francis J. "Packey" Boyle was born in 1903 in Illinois. He held a doctorate in Osteopathy and from 1936-1952 he was the head of physiotherapy at Sun Valley, Idaho, where he supervised the Olympic Ski Team and the sports teams at Hailey High School. From 1954 to 1968, Boyle served as the University of Idaho's athletic trainer. In 1960, Boyle was the trainer for the winter Olympics at Squaw Valley, California. Boyle was involved in the American Legion, Moscow Elks Lodge, and the National Athletic Trainers Association. Additionally, he was a Marine Corps veteran of World War 1. Boyle was inducted into the Northwest Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame and the University of Idaho Athletics Hall of Fame. He passed away in 1972.

Arrangement
During processing, the order of the collection was changed. Previously materials were scattered among folders with little direction. Archivists sorted materials into folders by subjects.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Materials were donated by Ms. Wendy Heiken who worked at the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude. Materials had previously come from the Estate of Mrs. Dorothy Boyle.
Condition Description
One scrapbook (Photographs) has a back cover which has fallen off - handle with care. Sun Valley scrapbook front cover has lost one hinge.
