Records on broadcasting including correspondence, applications, licenses, reports, programs, schedules, specifications dating back to the 1950s. The School of Journalism and Mass Media records on reorganization, programs, surveys, correspondence and items related to Gordon A. Law, one of the founders of KUID and Department of Communications head.

There are also records from the School of Journalism and Mass Media dealing with staffing, surveys, reorganizations, and relations and operations with KUID/KUOI. Materials about Gordon A. Law were delivered by Claudia Law (Gordon's wife) about the time of the 2005 reunion to Pete Haggart and consist of items relating to his post U of I work in telecommunications satellite technology.

Records relative to KUID-FM, KUID-TV, and educational television broadcasting in Idaho. These records were held by current and former academic departments of the University of Idaho, including the Department of Communications, the School of Communications, and the School of Journalism and Mass Media.

KUID-FM and KUID-TV were the first public broadcasting stations of their kind in the state of Idaho. The FM was put on the air by the Department of Communications, College of Letters and Science, in 1963, and the television station followed in 1965. These records constitute a history of the start of public broadcasting in the state.

Both stations were established both to provide students with radio and television lab experience, and to provide the region with information and culture. KUID-FM was operated by the University of Idaho at 91.7 until 1984, when it became part of Northwest Public Radio at Washington State University, KUID-TV was operated as an independent station by the U of I until 1982, when the statewide agency, Idaho Public Television was created by the state legislature.
