Scope and Contents
The material in this record group consists of Office Files which contain correspondence and memos filed by subject, plans of the various colleges for Centennial celebrations and chronological files primarily consisting of photocopies of letters and memos. All material in this series was in labeled file folders: the original filing order and original folder headings were retained.
The audio visual material includes audio cassette tapes of the tree plantings around the state, and video cassettes of events associated with the Centennial.
The collectible material includes writings and photographs sent by alumni of the university, items with the centennial logo, a replica of the Act creating the university, and a few historic items, i.e. the ribbons from the shovel used by Theodore Roosevelt when he planted a tree on campus in 1911, and a paddle from an unidentified fraternity.
The final series consists of the 1939 time capsule, with its contents, which was opened on January 30, 1989.
