Two people cross-country skiing in the background of a shot of a U of I signage featuring the old "UI star" logo. A caption placard taped to the back of this photograph reads: "University of Idaho, Publications Design - The University of Idaho is in northern Idaho which means winters will often be snowy. The University is in Moscow, a community of some 18,000 located at the eastern edge of the Palouse, wheat covered hills and near the foothills of the Bitterroot Mountains of the Rockies. Consequently, recreation opportunities vare widely. - Leo Ames, Creative Director", December 1981
