Study Plans, Notes, etc.
Content Description
The Public Land Law Review Commission papers of A.B. Curtis are contained in seven large file boxes; the reports prepared for the commission occupy several shelves in the library archives. Among the types of material found in this collection are press releases and memoranda issued by the commission, A.B. Curtis's commission related correspondence, speeches of commission members, especially Wayne Aspinall and Milton Pearl, material relating to the public meetings of the commission (of particular interest are Curtis's own memoranda of these meetings which he circulated to his close friends) and the reports prepared for the commission to assist it in making its own recommendations to the President and Congress.
In addition to the material in the archives, the Special Collections library photograph collection contains many of the photographs Curtis took while on PLLRC tours.

Materials Specific Details
Each of the studies requested by the PLLRC to enable it to complete its own report was commissioned in the same manner. First a proposed study plan was drawn up and circulated to Advisory Council members for their comments. Many council members sent copies to experts in the field of study and included these comments with their own report to the Commission. A "Request for Proposals" (RFP) was then sent to potential contractors. After a proposal was accepted, a contract signed, and the final report submitted, the council members were asked to read the reports and send comments on them to the Commission. Some of these reports are only a single page, others much longer and very detailed.
Most of the folders in this series contain study plans, requests for proposals and comments from Advisory Council members. These are arranged in RFP number order. There are some folders which contain study plans and comments only. These are in chronological order by study plan date, the folders are lettered A-L rather than numbered. In several instances a study changed title between study plan and comments; these changes are noted in parentheses following the original title. The reports to which the material in these folders refer are in the following series.
